Please join us for a webinar for World Immunization Week. The challenge of immunisation in humanitarian contexts is complex, ranging from security and logistical concerns to health system capacity, access, and vaccine confidence issues. Broadly understood as an effort to bring people affected by crisis into the planning and delivery of humanitarian work, community engagement is increasingly seen as a core component of health interventions and as particularly important for ensuring effective vaccine uptake in complex emergencies. This event is co-organised by the LSHTM Vaccine Centre & Health in Humanitarian Crisis Centre, the Geneva Centre of Humanitarian Studies and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. 

It's World Immunization Week. Vaccines are one of humanity’s greatest achievements. In the last 50 years alone, they’ve saved nearly 154 million lives – that’s more than 3 million lives a year or six people every minute for five decades. Today, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC has joined the #HumanlyPossible campaign to call on world leaders to step up and ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to vaccines, tests and treatments. Mongolia has been experiencing an unprecedented cold wave crisis, known as dzud, that has decimated entire herds of livestock, a critical source of food and income for many communities. Some of the most affected herder families live very isolated, in remote and rural parts of the country. Teams from Mongolia Red Cross and IFRC are on the ground, carrying out operations to help those in need.

The Nepal Red Cross Society was in the remote village of Jajarkot to conduct Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) sessions and inform residents about preventive measures to reduce communicable diseases.
