Digital tools are reshaping how teacher training is delivered, monitored and scaled. Good practices include: ✔️ Peer mentoring and continuous learning ✔️ Real-time dashboards tracking teacher performance ✔️ Local innovations scaled nationally through embedded systems In Ghana and the Dominican Republic, national digital dashboards strengthened system accountability and learning outcomes. In Rwanda, digital tools made monitoring systems more efficient to inform decisions on the teaching workforce. In Argentina, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Jamaica, Jordan, Mali and Serbia, instant messaging applications were used to support mentoring and peer-to-peer training. 📌 Policy Takeaways: • Teachers are irreplaceable, technology must empower, not replace • Integrate digital tools into national systems for sustainability • Use digital dashboards and teacher management information systems to improve efficiency, accountability and professionalization • Build digital capacity through training and peer support • Design for digital inclusion—across gender, geography, and connectivity 📄 Explore the good practice notes: Read more in the evaluation’s good practice notes: https://lnkd.in/d8cBNv2V #UNICEF #Evaluation #TeachersDevelopment #Digitalskills Tami Aritomi Kerry Albright Robert McCouch UNICEF Bangladesh UNICEF Sri Lanka, UNICEF Jordan - يونيسف الأردن UNICEF Tunisie UNICEF Cambodia UNICEF Mongolia UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire UNICEF Ghana UNICEF Dominican Republic UNICEF Argentina UNICEF Ethiopia UNICEF Madagascar UNICEF Serbia

Middle-tier actors such as district and regional education officers are often the missing link between national education policy and daily classroom practice. UNICEF #evaluations show that when empowered, these leaders can: 🔺 Scale technical and pedagogical support 🔺 Use local data to manage teacher deployment 🔺 Monitor classroom practice and accountability 🔺 Anchor reforms for long-term sustainability Policy takeaways for strengthening the Middle-Tier: 👉 Invest in capacity by shifting from compliance to active teacher support 👉 Embed reforms by anchoring policies in existing district/regional systems 👉 Balance accountability with support by tracking performance and nurturing growth 👉 Foster ownership by making middle-tier actors the co-creators of change. In countries like Ghana, Madagascar, and the Dominican Republic, middle-tier leaders are embedding national reforms into local routines, ensuring continuity even during political or funding transitions. 📖 Learn how the #evaluation captured these good practices: https://lnkd.in/eywAuBuj 👈 #UNICEF #Evaluation #Education #TeacherDevelopment #EvidenceToAction #LearningOutcomes Suman Sachdeva Ph.D, Antonia Mandry, Haritz Goya Lujambio, Sonakshi Sharma, Lyston Skerritt, Euphrates Efosi Wose, Frank van Cappelle, wycliffe otieno Ashley Wax, Esther Kaggwa, Jane Mwangi, Michael Francis Craft, Mirella Hernani, Souraya Hassan.H, Myriam Van Parijs, Daniel ALONSO VALCKX, Tami Aritomi, Jayachandran Vasudevan, Denis Jobin, Mercy Kolok, Kerry Albright, Robert McCouch UNICEF Bangladesh, UNICEF Sri Lanka, UNICEF Jordan - يونيسف الأردن, UNICEF Tunisie, UNICEF Cambodia, UNICEF Mongolia, UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire, UNICEF Ghana, UNICEF Dominican Republic, UNICEF Argentina, UNICEF Ethiopia, UNICEF Madagascar,UNICEF Serbia
