✨ #Evaluations aren’t just reports, they’re tools for learning and improving. The UNICEF China Country Programme Evaluation (2021–2025) shows how evidence helps shape better services for children across #China. 💡 What's working: • Millions of children now have better nutrition and mental health support, with services for mothers and babies expanded across 11 provinces. • Innovative initiatives have been launched in education for children with special needs, disabilities, and mental health requirements • The integrated Child Protection Model has been adopted into national policies, benefiting over two million children. • Child-centered Social Policy has created urban child-friendly environments and improved early childcare. ❓ Why it matters: Evaluation helped identify what’s effective, what needs adjusting, and how to scale up what works. It’s a roadmap for smarter decisions. ⭐ Recommendations: • Strengthen integrated child protection systems and data collection on violence against children. • Expand inclusive education and support for children with disabilities. • Enhance South-South cooperation and advocacy for healthy food environments. 💡 The #evaluation underscores the importance of partnerships, innovation, and evidence-based advocacy in shaping a more equitable future for China’s 298 million children. 🔗 Read the full #evaluation report: https://lnkd.in/eedaUYfy 👈 #UNICEF #China #ChildRights #Development #Education #Health #ChildProtection #SDGs Beijie Lai, Jane Mwangi, Patrick Shing, 王旭, Fang Yan, Mercy Kolok, Kerry Albright, Robert McCouch, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific

📣 🚰 New Impact Evaluation: Climate-Resilient WASH in Karamoja Schools of Uganda ❗ UNICEF Evaluation is pleased to announce a new impact evaluation of the "Accelerating Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services for schools and healthcare facilities in Karamoja" programme, launched today in partnership with UNICEF Uganda and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). This impact evaluation will interview over 3,900 school children and their parents across 140 water-scarce schools in #Uganda's Karamoja region through 2029. Using a mixed-methods approach with baseline, midline, and endline surveys and cost-effectiveness analysis, it will measure how climate-resilient water systems, improved sanitation facilities, and hygiene education affect children's health, school attendance, learning outcomes, and adolescent girls' dignity and school participation. This #evaluation addresses a critical evidence gap on climate-resilient #WASH interventions in education settings. The findings will directly inform WASH and education policies for climate-vulnerable regions, ensuring programming is grounded in robust evidence. Smarter programming through Iterative Evaluation! How can #evaluations drive continuous learning and adaptation? In 2024, the Migration Development Hub commissioned an iterative evaluation for the PROSPECTS programme, helping teams refine programmes and adapt to changing contexts. Strengthen national systems for the inclusion, resilience, and access to quality basic services and protection of forcibly displaced populations and their hosts in Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Sudan, and Uganda. In PROSPECTS, UNICEF works together with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, International Labour Organization, The World Bank and the IFC - International Finance Corporation. 📖 Learn more about UNICEF Evaluation of PROSPECTS: https://lnkd.in/enFt7hfe 👈 and 🎥 watch the video https://lnkd.in/eNEeN2PG 👈 #Evaluation #AdaptiveProgramming #SustainableDevelopment #UNICEF Eduard Bonet, Zlata Bruckauf, Mercy Kolok, Gabriel Ortega Hernández, Celeste Aida Lebowitz, Kerry Albright, Robert McCouch

📢 New Brief and Evidence Gap Map: "What do we know about the evidence base on social assistance interventions to reach the furthest behind?" Complemented by a comprehensive Evidence Gap Map, this brief dives into the evidence base on gender-, age- and disability-responsive vouchers and in-kind transfers in LMICs and provides insights into programme regions and countries, types of interventions, targeted outcomes and population groups reached. Key takeaways: 📚 249 studies analyzed, including 155 impact studies and 94 UN process/performance evaluations. 🌍 Most evidence comes from Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Latin America, but gaps remain in low-income and fragile settings. ⛳️ Children and adolescents are prioritized, but interventions for persons with disabilities and the elderly are underrepresented. ⚠️ There is limited research on vouchers for poverty reduction (SDG 1) and gender equality (SDG 5), and a need for more inclusive programming. 🔗 Download the brief: https://lnkd.in/ewZaYJXh 🔗 Explore the Evidence Gap Map: https://lnkd.in/eXGkQ3z6 Stay tuned for the final synthesis report which will provide deeper analysis and actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners and donors! #SDGs #LNOB Center for Evaluation and Development (C4ED) UNICEF Evaluation UN Women World Food Programme UNESCO UNDP Independent Evaluation Office

🎯 On #WorldPolioDay, we celebrate the power of community and collaboration in #Nigeria’s fight against polio. 📌 Key Findings from the Impact #Evaluation: The Volunteer Community Mobilizers (VCMs)—trained by UNICEF Nigeria—played a transformative role in increasing vaccine acceptance and coverage. VCMs helped dispel misinformation, built trust, and ensured timely immunization, especially in hard-to-reach and vaccine-hesitant communities. 📊 Outcomes & Achievements: Nigeria has remained wild polio-free since 2016. Over 270 million vaccines administered annually. VCMs contributed to improved maternal and child health practices and supported #COVID19 vaccination efforts. Real-time data and community feedback mechanisms strengthened health system responsiveness. 🧭 Recommendations: Scale and sustain the VCM model to support broader health interventions. Continue community engagement to combat misinformation and vaccine hesitancy. Strengthen partnerships between government, traditional leaders, and donors. 🤝 With gratitude to our donors—including World Health Organization, Government of Nigeria, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance — whose support fuels this life-saving work.
