➡️ There's inherent tension between the 'Fin' & the 'Tech'. Financial services companies are built in a different way than tech companies - with disciplined execution and a long term, compounding mindset. But tech companies attempt to dominate categories and grow fast. #Founders should calibrate where they are on the Fin vs Tech spectrum and make their choices accordingly. Mistakes are made when, for example, a balance sheet business tries to blitzscale. This is common in tech but normally a sign of impending disaster in financial services. ➡️ Blitzscaling is overrated in #FinTech and consistent #compounding is underrated. The FinTech opportunity will go on for decades and we’re not even close to saturation.
