Wonderful to convene CEOs of leading utilities at the @Global Water Summit again this year! IFC Infrastructure hosted an insightful conversation focusing on common challenges faced by water utilities and their solutions. The CEOs exchanged knowledge and learned directly from each other’s experiences. Although water is a local issue, utilities from developed and emerging markets have similar priorities: climate adaptation, service expansion, reducing non-revenue water, protecting water bodies, increasing energy efficiency, and adopting innovative technologies in their operations. The CEOs highlighted the importance they place in investing not only in water infrastructure, but also in the quality of their services, and in their human resources. This is the second time IFC - International Finance Corporation Finance Corporation convenes Utilities for Climate (#U4C) partners for a peer-to peer knowledge event. Many thanks to Manuelito Magalhaes Junior of Sanasa Campinas; Claudio Stabile of Companhia de Saneamento do Paraná - Sanepar; @Muhammed Ercan of @ASKI; Andre S. of Sabesp; Ahmadou Bakayoko of SODECI - Société de Distribution d'Eau de la Côte d'Ivoire Amit Lang of MEKOROT®; Michael Toh of PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency; Christopher Pablo of World Bank Tokyo Development Learning Center TDLC for joining us and being part of the productive discussion. Proud to be investing alongside Constantin von Alvensleben and his team at Voltalia to power #Albania's green energy future. When the project is complete, it will be the largest solar PV plant in the country. That means many thousands of homes plugged into a greener and more resilient national grid. #climatefinance #resilience #adaptation https://lnkd.in/dvS7xtu4

For Omari John, a refugee living in #Kenya’s Kakuma refugee camp, keeping the lights on at his barbershop means more business. This has been possible with the expansion of Renewvia Energy’s solar powered mini-grid in the Kalobeyei area. With funding from IFC - International Finance Corporation’s Kakuma Kalobeyei Challenge Fund, Renewvia Energy has been able to expand its solar mini-grid to bring electricity access to over 436 businesses and 2,300 households in the area. This includes helping to keep the lights on at Omari’s Public Kinyozi Class Haircuts barbershop. 📺 Check out this video to learn more about lighting the last mile in Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp: #IFCInfrastructure
