Our latest collaborative innovation is driving circularity. ♻️ Alongside Saint-Gobain, we’ve partnered with Prepack Thailand to launch a tile grout packaging solution that uses post-consumer recycled plastic. The bags contain up to 10% recycled plastic and still provides high-quality performance. This solution could utilize over 2.3 tons of post-consumer recycled content and cut carbon emissions by more than 2.8 tons CO2e annually, marking a significant step towards more circular construction. Breakthroughs happens when tech visionaries and materials scientists team up. 🤝 Plastic films and flexibles are made up of different percentages of molecular materials that are harder to measure in today’s sorting technology. To tackle this challenge X, The Moonshot Factory for Circularity is training its AI-powered molecular models to identify films and flexibles by using data that comes from Dow’s expertise in designing materials for technical recyclability. Together, we aim to enhance recycling systems to better identify, sort, and recycle materials into new packaging products. Our collaboration at PACK EXPO 2024 drove sustainability results 🤝 Thanks to our initiatives with PMMI, Independent Recycling Services and McCormick Place, over 284 tons of waste was diverted from landfills while conserving nearly 2 million gallons of water and over 1 million kWh of electricity. These initiatives included renewable energy certificates, LED lighting with sensors and AI-powered waste sorting, with the results showing promising signs for more circular events in the future.
