Are you taking part in ESA's 6th Quantum Technology Conference on 19-21 September? If so, be sure to follow the keynote talk on #quantumcomputing for #highenergyphysics, given by Alberto Di Meglio, head of #CERNqti. He will discuss the white paper, authored earlier this year by members of the Qc4HEP Working Group, identifying activities in #particlephysics where #quantumtechnologies could be applied. 📅 Thu, Sep 21 🕘 09:00 CET 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e5Ebh3gW For the full programme, visit: https://lnkd.in/eNc7panv European Space Agency - ESA

About us
Through its Quantum Technology Initiative, CERN acts as an "honest broker" — an international, open, and neutral platform — across the CERN Member States and the HEP community worldwide, to foster innovative ideas in the high-energy physics field and beyond. Building on CERN’s unique expertise and strong collaborative culture, we aim to: - build, support, and promote multi-disciplinary collaborations, complementing the ongoing national and international activities, - co-develop quantum-technology expertise with academic, research and industrial partners, exchanging knowledge and innovation, - establish a joint research programme, exploring potential applications of quantum computing and algorithms, quantum theory and simulation, quantum sensing, metrology and materials, quantum communication and networks, - set up education and training activities, growing competence and knowledge for the new generation of scientists, from high-school students to senior researchers.

Today, experts from CERN, DESY, IBM Quantum and over 30 other organisations have published an important white paper identifying activities in #particlephysics that could most benefit from the application of #quantumcomputing technologies. The goal is to help tackle computing challenges related not only to the Large Hadron Collider’s ambitious upgrade programme, but also to other colliders and low-energy experiments world-wide. Find out more at: https://lnkd.in/egryJNP7 Read the full paper on ArXiv here: https://lnkd.in/euBSdEVr

Going beyond #qubits, in this work, we tested the effectiveness of a 3-level system, a #qutrit, to function as a #quantumbattery. Which protocol to choose for charging, how to characterise and study it? We tested these protocols on #IBMquantum devices based on superconducting circuits in the transmon regime. The minimum achieved charging time represents the fastest stable charging reported so far in solid state quantum batteries. https://lnkd.in/dEXNeg_q CERN Quantum Technology Initiative Giulia Gemme

Join us in extending a warm welcome to the newest addition to our European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) community! ✨ We are thrilled to introduce CERN and their remarkable contributions to the field of #quantumtechnology. Get an insightful perspective on their activities, particularly their involvement in the quantum field. The CERN Quantum Technology Initiative at CERN fosters quantum developments in the European high-energy physics community and beyond. CERN establishes a dialogue between the high-energy physics and quantum-tech communities to find opportunities for mutually beneficial collaborations. In this context, CERN seeks to engage with industry and research institutes who wish to tap into CERN’s unique expertise for future innovations and knowledge-transfer partnerships within the field of quantum technologies. 💡 Exciting news and a major step forward in proving the utility of #quantumcomputing before the full realisation of error correction! Looking forward to what the future of the new #quantum era holds!
Research published by IBM Quantum in @Nature today has taken us into the era of quantum utility. In a collaboration between scientists at IBM Quantum and UC Berkeley, this landmark paper shows evidence that a quantum computer, powered by the IBM Quantum Eagle 127-qubit processor, has produced accurate results for problems beyond the reach of leading classical approaches. Following this achievement, we are also announcing that our IBM Quantum Systems will be powered by a minimum of 127 qubits. Learn more: https://ibm.co/43WdkKc
