Bringing together physicians and communities to improve our nation's health since 1950.

About us

The AMA Foundation brings together physicians and communities to improve the nation’s health. Founded in 1950, the AMA Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Medical Association. We are proud to provide a portfolio of charitable programs with two primary areas of focus: Community Health Grants and Medical Education & Leadership. Through the Community Health Programs, the AMA Foundation funds innovative, physician-led partnerships with community-based organizations focused on chronic disease prevention and management, particularly type-2 diabetes and hypertension. Our Medical Education & Leadership Program offers need-based scholarships to rising, final year medical students, including those underrepresented in medicine. In addition, the AMA Foundation offers a competitive leadership development program to build a diverse cohort of physician leaders for the future. Find out more at amafoundation.org

Dr. Ekuta is a Neurology Resident Physician at Morehouse School of Medicine and an award-winning physician-scientist-advocate committed to advancing brain health equity. Beyond the clinic, Dr. Ekuta mentors underrepresented students and serves on the American Academy of Neurology's Undergraduate Education Subcommittee. His ultimate goal is to become a behavioral neurologist leveraging digital innovation and advocacy to ensure neuroscience serves all communities equitably.
