Why Diversity Matters to All of Us

As we see the continued protests and calls for justice and accountability around the United States and across the globe, it has never been clearer why it’s on ALL of us – corporations and individual citizens – to work to become part of the solution. I sent the email below to Kraft Heinz employees around the world Friday morning, reminding them we all have a role to play in fighting injustice and supporting each other.

A Message from Miguel: Why Diversity Matters to All of Us

Dear Kraft Heinz Colleagues,

Given the disturbing and heartbreaking events that have taken place in the United States this week, our new Value We demand diversity has never felt more important or more urgent. It’s only when we try to see the world through other people’s eyes, truly hear their perspectives and work to eliminate our own biases that we can become better and stronger as a Company, and as human beings who live in this world together.

As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” That is why it is so critical that all of us at Kraft Heinz – individually and collectively – live into our own Values each day. They are not just words on a page or on a wall. We all have a responsibility to bring them to life – and to make them concrete, actionable and real. What I hope we learn and take away from the deeply tragic and painful events like the ones we are seeing play out this week is that we are only as strong as the most vulnerable among us. We need to stand up for each other and with each other. Let’s never forget that we are all in this together.
