#VMWonAWS Barcelona Recap

Three years ago we celebrated the newly announced VMware and Amazon Web Services partnership at VMworld Barcelona 2016. We got an overwhelmingly positive response at VMworld from that initial announcement. Since then we have been busy shipping our new service, initially launched in August 2017, then expanded to our first European region (London) in March 2018. Since then we have come a long way. Last week at VMworld Barcelona 2019, the #VMWonAWS team had an amazing week. We met with SO MANY customers, partners, and delivered some great sessions and giveaways. Here are some key highlights:

1. VMC User Summit : We had a packed room of customers with great set of roadmap discussions across networking, storage, commerce, and more. My favorite part was the customer story time session.

2. IHS Markit at the keynote: Sari Granat (EVP, IHS Markit) discussing their cloud journey on VMC and lessons learned. Here is the full discussion with Sari and Sanjay Poonen.

3. William Hill (many sessions): Sarah Lucas (Head of Platforms & Infra) discussed their unique experience with a focus on automation. Here is a video of their story.

4. Migrate & Modernize - New features announced:

• Kubernetes on VMware Cloud on AWS
• Stretched Clusters for everyone – up to 16% price reduction

6. Breakout sessions, as usual William Lam did a great job posting the recordings here.

7. Lego Minifigures giveaways by Emad Younis and Willam Lam was the talk of VMworld – they produced some really creative product minifigures! Check out a pic here.

Overall it was great to see the customer and partner momentum surrounding VMware Cloud on AWS and end another phenomenal VMworld Barcelona!
