Thinking about running for office?

While often overlooked, an appointment to a vacant seat in your state legislature can be a great way to jumpstart your political career. Winning an appointment can be a faster, less-expensive way of becoming a legislator - and provides you with incumbent status when you go into your first election.

Vacancies arise when a legislator leaves office before their term is up. The number of vacancies across the country is increasing as more and more legislators fall, rightly so, because of the #metoo movement. For example, there's a vacancy now in Arizona as a legislator was expelled for his crass and inappropriate behavior.

Great recap of the Appointment process Jason. I'll also offer that the top 3 candidates from the PCO vote also send to the Council letters of support from high profile residents (living in the district) and an Endorsement letter full of signatures of residents living in the district.
