Super Charge Your Spring Boot Apps with Azure Spring Cloud

Six years ago, I gave a speech about Linux on Azure in a 200-person conference room, and there were fewer than 20 people sitting 5 rows away from me. I knew that everyone had no confidence in the content of my speech. Soon all this changed. Our CEO Satya Nadella said Microsoft loves Linux. In the past years, we proved it with the rich support for Linux distributions on Azure, the contribution of the Linux kernel, etc. Do you know Linux on Azure is the fastest growing platform on Azure?

Today, I also want to use our actual actions to tell you how we embrace Spring, the leading Java Runtime platform. This week at SpringOne, Microsoft and VMware announced the General Availability of Azure Spring Cloud! Azure Spring Cloud removes the burden and related challenges of setting up and managing Spring Cloud components and Kubernetes. It lets Spring Boot developers focus on building the applications that run the business without the hassle of managing infrastructure.

In the past two years, we have established a very close partnership with Pivotal (now VMware). Last October, we announced Azure Spring Cloud, a fully managed service for Spring Boot applications, at SpringOne. After the event, two teams sit down together to discuss how to deliver better user experience and future.

A good product requires constant polishing. The VMware technical team also flew to our office to work directly face-to-face with our developers. We also learned how to work effectively with Spring community members in different cities. Our goal is to create a product to help Spring developers easily go to the cloud.

Driven by Spring Developers

Java developers in many organizations have used the service and provided us with plenty of feedback to prioritize features to help shape Azure Spring Cloud.

In the upcoming months, we will release more security related features to protect your app and data, more capabilities to monitor your applications as well as tools to simplify your daily work. We are eager to listen to your feedback.
