Starting from Scratch: SAP Partner SAVIC Finds Immediate Success with Packaged Solutions

For a company that’s only two years old, SAVIC Technologies has already enjoyed a lot more success than most companies of its age.

The India-based SAP partner was created by executives with a lot of SAP solutions experience and when they decided to start a new company, the founding partners made sure to focus on two important tenets: the SAP S/4HANA platform and an ability to offer packaged solutions that would be easy for customers to understand and implement. That’s helped ease any growing pains.

The combination of SAP S/4HANA and a packaged solutions strategy allowed SAVIC to take a template-like approach, building repeatable, scalable, flexible solutions for specific industries such as real estate,   consumer products, auto components, and chemical that have served well a company starting from scratch, according to Mohammad Shakir, vice president of SAVIC.

“The presentation of the template, with a fixed scope with an express model demonstrated with customer data, is a big part of our success” Shakir said, noting that SAVIC’s packaged solutions have been attractive to current SAP companies as well as companies that don’t have existing SAP infrastructure.

In less than two years, SAVIC has developed several solutions for multiple industries, including the SAVIC populus (Employee Central + Performance &Goal) solution, one of more than 300 solutions now part of the new SAP qualified partner-packaged solutions framework launched last November.

“For net new customers, we offer a package to come into SAP S/4HANA with basic compliance solutions to bring them into compliance with a fixed price of licenses as well as hardware and implementation,” Shakir said. “With a packaged solution we’re able to shorten sales cycles to 8 to 10 weeks because the customer is very clear about what a packaged solution brings to them. We talk about a phased approach.”

With early successes under its belt, SAVIC has already started working to qualify additional partner-packaged solutions with SAP, including offerings around SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP hybris and SAP Business ByDesign—all aimed at midmarket customers.

“We’re going to do a lot more social media and marketing for packaged solutions. Leads are coming from our website and we will continue to leverage that,” Shakir said. “Last year, we won one in three or one in four deals. The pre-packaged solutions helped SAVIC close deals with multiple new customers (Net New Name additions) in West and South India, 40+ S/4 HANA implementations, serving multiple industries. We expect to improve on that and we’re looking to expand to other regions, different states within India and the Middle East.”

SAVIC expects its growth rate to accelerate with more wins under its belt—and in more regions—once it’s able to market success stories in specific industries.

“There’s room for growth, for improvement. We can fulfill all requirements of business, so that adds to the value of a packaged solution in other markets outside India,” Shakir said. “We’re opening a solution center with SAP. That will open up opportunities with more customers for SAP S/4HANA because we can demonstrate a package live with a customer in different verticals. We’re excited at the opportunities in front of us with SAP and packaged solutions.”
