Once an Infoscion, always an Infoscion

Once an Infoscion, always an Infoscion

It was not so long ago when I was telling a friend how Infosys holds a sweet spot in my heart, and just about a week later came up this wonderful news of Infosys being ranked as number 3 on Forbes "World's best-regarded companies". I wonder if anyone out there was listening to what I was saying and how I was describing Infosys!

I joined Infosys in the year 2016, as an MBA graduate and clearly remember my first step in the Bangalore office where I had to report and the feeling was heavenly! I had seen no office such as this – not even in my wildest dreams – as I soaked in all that was in front of my eyes - cool buildings, food courts, infrastructure, greenery, in-house facilities like gym, swimming pool, etc. It was absolutely mesmerizing! The next step was to settle in the company guest house which we call our ECC (Employee Care Center)! No less than a five-star hotel room, it was an amazing experience!

Post this, I started meeting people, humble and welcoming even though highly accomplished and bearing fancy titles, which made me realize why Infosys so easily finds its way into people’s hearts! By the way, I have a lot of friends and relatives who have been associated with Infosys in the past and even after no longer being a part of Infosys, the Infosys in them is not dead, which clearly explains why everyone says - Once an Infoscion, always an Infoscion!

Yes Infosys became my second family. And yet, I want to be able to explain that highly emotional response with rational reasoning that anyone can appreciate and relate to. Infosys as an organization, very clearly understands the needs of its employees and is flexible enough to recreate its policies as would best fit its employees. Highlighting the key areas which are close to my heart - work-life balance, exposure to grow each day, mentor-like managers and extreme focus on the wellbeing of employees

Speaking of work-life balance, Infosys understands the importance of both work and play. On the one hand there is ample opportunity to learn and explore multiple domains to become a true professional, on the other hand, there is this empathetic understanding of the stresss in today's world and so the offer of in house facilities like yoga, zumba, gym, aerobics, swimming, badminton and many more fun activities and contests within the campus.

Infosys runs multiple clubs and drives many initiatives that help you build your skillset, puts you in touch with great experts to broaden your horizon and shine like a true star! You just need to show the zeal and then there is nothing stopping you at Infosys!

You know, I've heard a lot of people say that an employee leaves his/her manager and not an organization! I have a completely different viewpoint from this based on my experience. In this short span with Infosys, I have worked with three managers, and I cannot name a single one from whom I did not learn. They have all been great guides and mentors to me. They have supported me and helped me get where I am today. They have never stopped me from participating in any initiative or activity, rather have encouraged and motivated me to try new things – both at work and outside!

Last and the most important aspect that I have come across in Infosys is its policies towards employee wellbeing. Irrespective of gender, Infosys is very strict when it comes to employee safety. Be it sexual harassment, leaving late from office, gender equality, etc., if you are in Infosys you are in safe hands. Now as I write this, I can recall an incident that happened within one year of me joining Infosys. It so happened that due to some political issues in Karnataka, it was declared as "Bandh". There was a huge ruckus on the roads and a panic situation in the city. And, my parents called and said, and I quote, "Beta, if you've not left Infosys, better stay in the campus because we feel that the campus is much more safe than even your home!" Though they were 2400kms away from me, they had this assurance that Infosys will take care of their daughter no matter what! I wonder if any other company out there could ever instill this level of trust in an employee's family!

On this note, I would conclude by saying, "Infosys is a workplace which grooms you like a teacher, protects you like a parent and comforts you like home."
