Algorithmics (HESS): A new STEM subject in the VCE Curriculum.
Algorithmics (HESS) is a new VCE subject that offers university credits and fully contributes to student ATAR scores, scaling up by up to +5 in 2017, +5 in 2016 and +6 in 2015. Algorithmics (HESS) is suited to secondary students that love applying logic and Maths to solving problems. The study has been developed by Melbourne and Monash Universities in conjunction with VCAA, and is an introduction to algorithmic thinking and Computer Science. Since 2015 it has been offered by several secondary schools and Distance Education Centre Victoria (DECV). Information for interested students, teachers and schools looking to take or offer this subject can be found at http://www.distance.vic.edu.au/subject-tasters/algorithmics-unit-3-4-4/ and at the other links below. Student enrolments for 2018 at DECV open October 2017 and close mid-February 2018.
