My Infosys and I

When I heard Infosys is Ranked Number 3 on 2019 Forbes ‘World’s Best Regarded Companies’ List, it only strengthens my aspiration to be the example for all companies to create a more diverse work environment.

At Infosys I was able to create a healthy and productive work environment that is free of harassment, abrasive behavior and bullying. In my role as Diversity and Inclusion Representative, I successfully connect the Indy Tech Hub to create a broader ecosystem of community partners, stakeholders and organization that help to fulfill our diversity objectives. This is done through proactive communication, strong networking and promotion of various social channels and face to face interactions. I also help to develop more effective strategies to recruit and attract a more diverse applicant pool for position vacancies.

I made the choice to place myself in a positive, progressive and engaging environment, one that suits my needs for an open environment to learn and grow, at my own pace. Every day is a new day and learning day with positive start for me at Infosys. In order to keep myself motivated I have adopted these daily habits: motivating myself, stepping up, and staying focused. I motivate myself by having a continuous positive outlook for any situation, I refuse to let others say negative things, I always correct them with positive affirmations. Stepping up requires me to hold myself accountable in situations where I am able to help other. Being a listening ear for employee’s ideas and concerns in the hub. The ability to stay focus on the end goal is challenging in any profession, however for me I find is helpful to write a list of priorities for the day. This keeps me in tune with what I should be accomplishing daily.

At work, I enjoy having real diversity, which means the presence of difference within our contained environment, this has been proven to show an increase in productivity, profits, and employee engagement. Diversity provides a reduction in turnover, improves company reputation and produces a wide range of skills for employees.  Sometimes at work you would assume that common culture is enough, but there is a significant distinction in connections with the right people help you to get things done. The way people interact with each other strongly influences the working environment. 'Face' and long-term effects are taken into consideration.

Infosys has taught me a lot, especially how to use tactics and techniques as you engage with others. The foundation of that I learned includes being bold it is all about thinking big and making bold decisions. As the famous saying by Wayne Gretzky goes,” Plan as per where the puck is going to be and not where the puck is today.” Having many successful and experienced leaders come to speak at the Indy Infosys Hub invokes so many passionate ideas and concepts that I am excited to share. It’s much easier to love your work when you’re good at it.

In the world today balance is needed in all aspects and many times we all find it hard achieve. Balance is important, I aim to help everyone achieve that balance here at Infosys. I do my best to meeting as many people as possible in the organization and building meaningful relationships. Learning to work with different people, sometimes on endless tasks you'll find yourself learning to manage upwards, spotting problems and suggesting solutions to your leaders. You may seek opportunities to improve things within the organization, even when it's not your direct responsibility. At Infosys I don’t limit myself because I know I am appreciated by my leader and whenever I need an advice he is there.
