First, of all download your free list of calls-to-actions here to word your button effectively (and also diversify the CTAs throughout the site!)
Don't focus so much on your product when creating your call to action. Focus on the results the reader will get and the action they should take.

The top call to action is more powerful and effective than the second one because you can see the value and benefit one would receive right away from only providing their email. Remember, your call to action will already have context surrounding it. Whether it’s the content of your sales page, a blog post or the text within your social media post.
Your CTA is all about driving the reader to engage and take action, not to tell them about what product you're offering.
Here are two possible routines to increase your business email subscription numbers:
For an eCommerce Site
- Add a newsletter sign up on your blog (I am using Sumome with Mailchimp integration: It's an easy set-up and you can use it for free for as long as you want)
- Offer seasonal promo codes if you sign up for a newsletter
- Set up a tell-A-Friend campaign: "Get a % off next purchase for you and your friend"
- Use paid Facebook offer promotions: "24 hours limited offers 30% off any purchase" (They will add their email when they purchase)
- Ask influencers to encourage readers to sign up for newsletters
- Add newsletter sign-up opt-in box on home page and get % off for a sign-up
- Eliminate the option to sign up for the newsletter on the shopping cart page. If they want to unsubscribe, there is an option on the newsletter.
For Any Site (Scaled)
- Write an ebook and promote it via adwords, Facebook, etc.
- ~5000 sign up (name and email) to receive that free or low cost book.
- Automated emails go out on day 1, day 2 day 4, etc. inviting them to a free webinar - which basically is a walk through on the book you've just given away.
- 500 people attend automated webinar - you've done it once, recorded it and now it's automated too.
- During the webinar, make an offer for a special paid class / web series / conference.
- Maybe 50 attend.
Process starts all over: you've now established a starting email list of 5000.
Good luck!
Big thanks to Jeanne Alford and Janette Speyer on this!
