There has never been a better time for UX
The current pandemic situation has turned our daily lives upside down, placing digital objects at the centre of our relationship with the world, highlighting more than ever the importance of a quality user experience. With meeting apps at the centre of all our exchanges, we spend more time behind a screen than at any other time in history.
This close "forced" relationship with our computers makes us more sensitive to the quality of the digital tools at our disposal, which we see as natural extension of ourselves, formatted by the intuitive practices brought by mobiles. We expect them to accompany us efficiently and seamlessly in the flow of our daily tasks.
Now, as we all know, the human species is an animal that has not been designed for interaction with computers, but for hunting and gathering. Obviously, it's up to computers to adapt to humans... But is it so obvious? The way this consideration has been taken seriously is at the heart of the successes of the largest companies. In these very special times, it contributed greatly to the resilience of some and, badly considered, the difficulties of others. An information architecture poorly designed for use and that's productive hours that go up in smoke. A dull and old school productivity app in the digital mirror and it's the way the troops perceives themselves that suffers, their energy and motivation.
“If you think that good design is expensive, you should look at the cost of bad design.” Dr. Ralf Speth CEO Jaguar Land Rover
