ExEd Community of Practice Gathering at the Graduate Institute, Geneva – A Foresight Master Class

ExEd alumni are key members of our community of practice. Coming with diverse backgrounds from a wide variety of professional sectors and regions, our alumni represent a rich community of knowledge and expertise from which our programmes strongly benefit.

It was a pleasure to welcome back a group of our alumni along with other members of our community of practice, who volunteered to contribute to one of our foresight exercises, joining participants of our Executive Master in International Negotiation and Policy Making (INP) for a master class on the future of the Nation State.

After two hours of intense brainstorming using ExEd innovative pedagogical tools, our participants identified what they consider to be the key drivers for the future of the Nation State. The results of this master class set the foundations of our foresight, which was concluded later in the INP programme by the production of four scenarios to be published soon.

From growth to collapse, constraint and transformation, each scenario illustrates plausible futures for the Nation State. They raise intriguing ideas about the future of the notion of citizenship, the role of multilateral institutions, as well as social consequences of more and more work automation.

This event showcased just one among many innovative tools ExEd uses and imparts to our participants. More master classes will be organized soon. We are grateful to our community for their engagement and willingness to share their knowledge and skills with us.
