Connected Hub - the automotive and tech hub of Barcelona in a first event of its kind
Barcelona is the perfect setting for an amazing connected car and autonomous vehicles event. Already a smart city with an already strong automotive ecosystem, technology companies, startups and universities. Perfect naming too, Connected Hub, for what could be one of the best events of its kind, bringing together an incipient business ecosystem with new business models that will change how we move in and into the cities.
Luca de Meo CEO SEAT's keynote told about this relationship between the automotive sector and Barcelona. SEAT has been together with Barcelona in the struggle and, investing in shared vision with the city of becoming smarter solving one of its biggest pain points, mobility and sustainability issues all the while creating economic growth in doing so.
In the expo area Innovation Square we discover new solutions developed by SEAT and UPC University with CARNET that at as well as the finest startups arising in the new automotive horizon brought together under the hood by 4YFN in 4YFN Mobility Village. Innovation Square is set to be another great space for networking in future editions.
We are at the tipping point of a revolution and we are here in the making! Another great inspirational keynote has been by Massimo Cavazzini, Digital Director EMEA Oracle. Car companies produce different streams of data useful for other companies in the ecosystem. "Don't keep data in silos, Cavazzini said, "combine them to create even more value. "
Cars will transmit Gigabits of data per day, representing only a small portion of data created by more than 30 billion connected objects in a world populated by almost 4 billions of connected people. How will companies survive and make money in a data driven world?
We discussed the new business models and the huge opportunity in data from cars and users and the issues in cybersecurity and privacy as well as how they would potentially be affected by these challenges telecom, startups and car manufacturers.
