How to customize your LinkedIn public profile URL

After pondering if being one of the first to publish on LinkedIn is a privilege or a pain, I have decided that there is only one way to find out!

If Twitter is the virtual cocktail party, and Facebook the virtual house party, LinkedIn is your virtual shop front.

If your ideal client or employer were looking to hire someone with your skills, would your profile encourage them to walk through the door?

Make the most of your profile by providing links to your website, blog and Twitter.

If your company doesn't have a corporate profile, create one and encourage all members of staff to link to it.

For the highest possible Google ranking, secure a great address for your virtual shop front by claiming your LinkedIn public profile as your own.

Ideally customize your URL to http://linkedin.com/in/yourfullname - it takes seconds, no excuses!

From the Profile header, click Edit Profile:

Next Edit by your Public Profile (the last field below):

Finally, click Set Custom URL

Seconds well spent :)

24/4/20 EDIT - Happy 6th birthday to this article!

You'll be taken to Public profile settings and you'll see Edit your custom URL on the top right - click on the pencil and update 😊
