it is impressive, amazing and beautiful indeed! But what is even more impressive and amazing is how most humans destroy everything in its path so that over time, they realize that, what they have destroyed is what they really need... Nature has given to us so much FOR FREE and what have we gave in return? Scraps, pollutants, squandering and the extinction of thousands of species (call it plants or animals). And of course, there's been evolution with all of this technology that has helped us so much along the way but at what expense? All of it in the name of "god economy", god "profits", god "sales", god "ego", god "innovation"!

Living in Singapore you experience the many benefits of incorporating nature into urban landscaping. Though it’s beautiful, it’s important to underline that biophilic design is not a substitute for untouched nature and that a downside to this is that the natural ecosystem, here rainforrests, gets a human engineering, which still has a detrimental effect on wildlife and even our own health. It might be better than congrete jungles, but it’s not a sustainable substitute to natural jungles.

Experiencing the impact and feel of biophilic design for real will truly amplify the connection of you with nature in every cell of your being. It’s a transformative experience. As humans, we are not apart from nature, we are a part of it. We are nature ourselves and as such, if we truly want to thrive as humanity will have to amplify that absolute truth in everything we do and decide. It will benefit all life and massively improve our entire existence. There is no compromise here, there is only value and gain in it.

I’m still skeptical about the idea of urbanization, green or not. The more centralized a population, the more direct and indirect top down control will be forced on the population. An example is having to rent living space vs owning it, and the failure to keep up the rent leading to homelessness. I love the idea of green cities, however for a truly sustainable model I believe we need decentralization and open source technologies. Everything in life being locked behind a “pay wall” owned by an elite few is our challenge.
