Oh I wish he had been like this in December or even after  November 17 2019 when the Chinese and WHO knew already of the potential threat of this pandemic, but he was too busy toadying up to Xi Jinping and congratulating China - the CCP facilitated this virus outbreak and then failed to report it for around two months!! They even threatened their doctors who were following Chinese CDC protocol!!! He is an accomplice in this woeful negligence. I believe he should resign. You should have WHO directors who are not bullied by states, they should be impartial and professional. His appointment was political and comes after another director who was the puppet of the CCP.  His advice on NOT having travel bans led to the spread of the pandemic Worldwide. If he had told everyone to copy the approach of Taiwan who acted humanely and swiftly he would not have to look all Morgan Freeman and warn us about social distancing. All the WHO statements until recently were scripted by the CCP. A travesty. The WHO referred to Taiwan as part of China (why?) then even as Taipei and its environs! This demonstrates with above the sway China has over the WHO.

Editor's note: Updated March 18 with the latest information on COVID-19.  The new coronavirus outbreak has made headlines in recent weeks, but there's another viral epidemic hitting countries around the world: flu season. But how do these viruses compare, and which one is really more worrisome? So far, the new coronavirus has led to more than 220,000 illnesses and more than 9,300 deaths worldwide. But that's nothing compared with the flu, also called influenza. In the U.S. alone, the flu has caused an estimated 36 million illnesses, 370,000 hospitalizations and 22,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  "I can tell you all, guaranteed, that as we get into March and April, the flu cases are going to go down. You could predict pretty accurately what the range of the mortality is and the hospitalizations [will be]," Fauci said. "The issue now with [COVID-19] is that there's a lot of unknowns."
