Another day that left me in transcendence after all the keynotes. Here’s what I learned from the AnitaB.org’s #vGHC21 day 3 💜 TL;DR: Stand up for yourself. Make tech accessible. Become a women at the table. Consider well-being. The day started off with a keynote on ‘Leveraging Intersectionality’. Layshia Clarendon emphasized the power of showing up as our fullest selves. She said “showing up is more of an inward battle than an outward one.” Next up, was Lisa Hauser's session. She has been doing a great job in helping girls code by making them think they’re doing art. This would ease the tension that women have around tech and make them think “They can do ANYTHING”. An interview with Haben Girma followed up & she shared her experiences on how she made her way being a Deafblind person. Her interview showed importance of prioritizing #accessibility in product design and #development. Michelle Thompson-Dolberry and Minda Harts’s keynote “Building Your Own Table”. The 3 truths are: Not a lot of #women are at the table making decisions, the existence of the wage gap and advocating for ourselves. We, ✨ALL WOMEN✨, should remember that we must remind ourselves that BEING GRATEFUL IS NOT IN THE JOB DESCRIPTION. Remind yourself that you deserve to be here, and you are at the table for a reason. A fireside chat between Aparna Bawa and Sheila Tejada taught me how Zoom is adapting being an enterprise business workplace collaboration and serving consumers (like schools and individuals) together. With the shift to remote work life, Zoom is now used by everyone from kids to senior citizens. Dr. Nuria Oliver, PhD’s session on ‘data science to help fight against COVID-19’, she describes her project with the Government of Spain including the challenges and the team building they had for this work. A monumental keynote followed up by Timnit Gebru. With all that she was subjected to through her career, I’ve learnt that we should learn to stand up for ourself no matter the people you’re surrounded with or the organization. Dr. Catherine Schuman’s session on Improving Fuel Efficiency Using Intelligent Automation, presented an approach using AI to reduce fuel consumption in internal combustion engines. Their system controls the fuel that is injected at every engine cycle which would result in a reduction in the fuel consumption. Unity’s session on well-being for interns and new grads by Claire Skelly, Izzy Rees, Charmaine Lee, Amanda T. throws light on how to consider wellbeing in the hustle bustle. A few of them included working out regularly and engaging yourself in small activities that could shift your mindset into the work culture. This could be something as simple as dressing up in a semi-formal attire over pajamas before your first meeting With great hosting of all these keynotes by Jeanne Sparrow, I wrapped up day 3 by 1:1 sessions with USAA, Google, Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg LP, Cardinal Health, The Walt Disney Company and Schlumberger!💜

What a gist of sessions! I am getting tempted to attend these sessions. Is there a link where I can view the session recordings.
