"I was going to nursing school, and I did a ride-along, and decided that was going to be everything that I wanted. To be able to see places nobody else normally gets to see. Normally you live and work and raise your family in a 100-mile square radius, and that was my chance to go and see what the country was really made of -- the people, the food, different geography."
