U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Post

Today, we say farewell to the U.S. Department of the Treasury's 78th Secretary Janet L. Yellen and honor her historic, groundbreaking career in public service. Under her leadership over the past four years, the Department of the Treasury tackled an array of hard issues head-on, driving historic economic progress that will continue to benefit people at home and around the world for years to come.

Janet Yellen's most significant contributions: (1) Recommended that we target 2% inflation (aka devaluing the nation's currency) every year, initially proposed to Chair Greenspan and accepted by every Fed chair thereafter as a good idea. This policy destroys 50% of the value of our currency every 35 years, or less if one blunders the supply of money like she did during the pandemic. (2) She failed miserably as the country's CFO to extend out duration during the lowest rates of all recorded history. Even run-of-the-mill homeowners across the country with a simpleton understanding of finance knew it was a fantastic time to refinance and lengthen the duration of their debt. But Yellen missed that boat. In total, Ms. Yellen's two biggest contributions will cost America trillions upon trillions of dollars for decades. Hard to think of a worse Treasury Secretary, and public policy maker / influencer.

Truly a ground breaker Fed female economist with a kind heart and a passion for economics. I hope she can teach. Not a politician in anyway. No agenda. We were lucky to have you at a leadership position. God bless you Dr Yellen.
