“I used to wish I could speak like the other kids but I’d freeze, blush, and stay quiet. Now I have friends, and I speak up in every session.” – Reem, 8 After years of displacement, Reem and her family returned to their hometown in Homs. The scars of war left her anxious and withdrawn. Through UNICEF-supported mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), sessions, Reem joined group activities that helped her manage anxiety, build confidence, and make new friends. Her mother joined positive parenting sessions, and together, the family began to heal. Now, Reem shares her feelings with ease and stands tall among her peers. Every child has the right to feel safe, supported, and heard. #ForEveryChild, every right Meritxell Relaño Arana UN in Syria
