🔒October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month- a reminder that online safety isn’t just about protecting data systems, but also about protecting people. While cybersecurity focuses on securing digital infrastructures, the same principles of vigilance and prevention apply to online sexual harm. At RESOLVE, our research explores the psychological and behavioural dynamics behind online sexual offending, the spread of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and digital environments that enable harm. #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth #OnlineSafety #ForensicPsychology #CSAMPrevention #DigitalWellbeing

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐠𝐞 In Pakistan, children’s online gaming and digital interactions have increased significantly. How can we protect young children from inappropriate online connections or harmful individuals? What are the responsibilities of parents, teachers, and society as a whole? The country’s median age is around 22 years, and millions of minors use digital devices without supervision. According to the National Commission on the Rights of Child’s Child Online Protection Report, there has been a worrying increase in online threats ranging from cyberbullying to sexual exploitation. In 2022, global reporting systems recorded more than two million cases of child sexual abuse material linked to users in Pakistan. However, the FIA registered only 250 local cases. This gap does not indicate a decline in crime but rather highlights deficiencies in reporting, identification, and institutional coordination. #DigitalAwareness #CyberSafety #OnlineSecurity #ChildProtection #DigitalPakistan #MediaAwareness #CyberSmartKids

Part 2 - linking Cyber Security with Safeguarding. Does that move it up the priority list? I hope so! Let me know how you prioritise cyber security in your organisation.
Head of Technology at Equate Group Ltd with expertise in cybersecurity and IT operations & Podcaster/Blogger
We were wrapping up our interview with Tammy Buchanan about the Kido nursery breach when she said: "Actually, there were some really important points I forgot to make." So we grabbed another cup of tea, broke out the custard creams, and kept recording. Then, during the tea break, Graham discovered something on Twitter: VX-Underground, a credible malware research collective, had posted a screenshot of what appears to be a Kido GitHub repository containing API code. Files that typically contain system credentials. A potential smoking gun. In Part 2, Tammy reveals what was missed in Part 1, including the game-changing fact that cybersecurity is now officially linked to safeguarding in the 2025 Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. We examine the repository screenshot and discuss what it suggests about how breaches like this happen. This isn't theory. This appears to be a real-world example of the vulnerability that could lead to children's data being stolen. And your child's school might have the same exposure. Recorded in the same session as Part 1. This is what happens when cybersecurity news moves faster than podcast recording sessions. Currently ranked in the Top 100 Apple Business Podcasts

PROTECTING CHILDREN IN THE DIGITAL SPACE – WHERE DO ONLINE PLATFORMS STAND IN THIS FIGHT? While most cases of grooming, manipulation, and child exploitation begin online, many platforms still lack effective reporting mechanisms or emergency tools to safeguard young users. According to the OECD (2025), among the world’s 50 largest online platforms, only 10 clearly define child sexual exploitation, and just 20 publicly release transparency reports on the issue. This highlights a significant gap in platform accountability. In response, the Signing Ceremony of the Hanoi Convention and the Side Dialogue titled “The Role of Online Platforms in Protecting Children and Adolescents from Cybercrime”—organized by the Digital Trust Alliance in collaboration with the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Ministry of Public Security)—will serve as an opportunity for key stakeholders, including the Government, Platforms, and Communities, to exchange insights, define responsibilities, and foster cooperation to protect vulnerable groups in the digital environment. So, what more can platforms do to ensure the safety of children and young people online? All these questions will be addressed in the upcoming dialogue—an open space for sharing and spreading the powerful message: “In the digital world, no one is left behind, and no one should face danger alone.” 🗓 Time: 12:30 – 13:30, October 25, 2025 📍 Venue: Room R205, National Convention Center, Hanoi
