Two years ago, 10-year-old Khalid fled Khartoum, Sudan, with his uncle amid violence. The separation from his parents weighs heavily on him. At a UNICEF-supported “makanna” or safe space, he is finding a way to heal from his trauma and distress through the simple act of drawing. “I am drawing a new house and flowers today because I miss my home and I wish to go back there,” he shares. Every child in Sudan needs peace NOW.
Khalid’s story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of children facing unimaginable hardship. No child should be separated from their family or forced to flee their home. Initiatives like UNICEF’s safe spaces are vital for helping children heal and rediscover hope. Every child in Sudan—and around the world—deserves peace, protection, and a future. UNICEF
Khalid’s story captures the silent pain of thousands of children forced to leave everything behind. Healing begins with safety, care, and hope — and UNICEF’s work gives that hope a shape. Every child deserves peace, not survival through conflict. #Sudan #UNICEF #ChildProtection #PeaceForChildren #HumanityFirst

Khalid’s story is a powerful reminder of how art becomes a language of healing when words fall short. Every child deserves the safety and peace to dream and draw freely again.
We should act accordingly to stop violence in society and ensure peace for every child!
