What about those who were responsible for the casualties...why are they escaping attention of the authorities? Unless they are officially declared responsible, how can one expect the things to brighten up?
Between 2020 and 2024, UN monitoring mechanisms indicate that more than 65–70% of child casualties in conflict settings are linked to the use of explosive weapons in populated areas, with consistent patterns of urban density, lethal radii above 30–50 m, and cascading impacts on essential services. This evidence underlines the importance of strengthening implementation of the 2022 Political Declaration on Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas, and of robust reporting and collateral-damage assessment systems aligned with international standards. At the governmental level, integrating civil registry, public-health and child protection data into verifiable infrastructures enhances risk anticipation, humanitarian response and compliance with protection obligations. Acknowledgment to UNICEF for sustaining evidence-based alerts and a framework focused on child safety, community resilience and adherence to international norms.

1dThis is disheartening. No child should ever be a statistic of war. Every child deserves to be protected and this must remain non-negotiable. 📌
