In Sudan, education has collapsed. About 14 million children - out of 17 million in the country - are out of school. Hundreds of schools have been damaged or destroyed. UNICEF is supporting Alternative Learning Programme centres like this one for girls in River Nile State. Every child in Sudan should have access to education in safety.

14 million children out of school — we can’t ignore this. Education must be protected, even in conflict. Thank you, UNICEF for showing up where it’s needed most. #ActForSudan

Protecting education today is investing in peace tomorrow. Even in the face of conflict, the resilience of children and the efforts of initiatives like these show us that learning can never be completely silenced.

TRUE......In Sudan, 14 million children are out of school, which means an entire generation is at risk. Yet there is hope in UNICEF’s Alternative Learning Programme centres that keep the right to education alive even in crisis. As 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆’𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶 reminded the world at #UNGA (2024): “𝙒𝙚 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬.” This is why global leadership must stand with #UNICEF to ensure every child in Sudan — and everywhere — has the right to learn in safety.

We have raised our hands to collaborate in empowering and uplifting ailing African communities. But #UNICEF is very selective in this process.
