In Al Fasher, Sudan, children and families are trapped as fighting engulfs the city. Across Darfur, the situation is dire, with rising malnutrition and disease. Last week, UNICEF’s Ted Chaiban was in Darfur. He met mothers like Salwa and Samiya, who are struggling to feed and protect their children. This is unacceptable. The violence must stop. Humanitarians must be allowed urgent and safe access.

This is heartbreaking. Sudan was once a significant hub for African students pursuing higher education and professional growth. Seeing Sudan in this situation is deeply painful.
