It’s deeply painful. Its impacts can last a lifetime. Female genital mutilation (FGM) can cause long-term physical and psychological damage, with serious medical complications. In humanitarian and fragile contexts, the risks associated with FGM may be further exacerbated. UNICEF and partners are committed to ending this human rights violation by 2030, once and for all. #GirlGoals #EndFGM

No tradition or belief should ever justify pain or fear. Every girl deserves safety, dignity, and the right to grow up whole — in body and spirit. Ending FGM isn’t just a goal for 2030, it’s a duty for all of us today. #EndFGM #HumanRights
Horrific to learn of this awful suffering.
No one consults us. No one asks if we are willing to undergo this inhumane practice, as if they own our bodies and our rights, as if we are animals. But who faces the consequences? Who bleeds? Who suffers complications during childbirth? It is us. We must ensure that innocent souls do not hear the terrifying sound of the knife, do not see the shining blade, nor feel the rope around their thighs. This is a responsibility that runs from the top to the bottom, and from the bottom to the top. #EndGbv #EndFgm #endfemicides #savewomeninSudan #SavechildreninCongo #justiceforLizafromEthiopia

2hFemale Genital Mutilation (FGM) is an inhumane and asexual act that causes great physical and psychological harm to girls and women. It is heartbreaking that such practices still exist in this modern era. Many girls are subjected to FGM without their consent, using unsterilized instruments in unsafe environments, which often leads to excessive bleeding, infections, and long-term trauma. Beyond the physical pain, it robs women of their right to sexual pleasure and bodily autonomy. FGM must be treated as a serious crime — not excused by culture or religion. Strong laws and strict enforcement are needed in every country across the world to hold perpetrators accountable and protect the rights and dignity of every girl.
