In humanitarian crises, adolescent girls face immense challenges, from interrupted education to child marriage and sexual violence, all of which deeply affect their mental health. Still, they hold onto their determination for a better future. In Yemen, 13-year-old Kholoud dreams of becoming a journalist and photographer to show the world life in a camp for internally displaced people. To chase that dream, she and all girls like her need access to quality education. Now. #GirlGoals

Admiro a quienes luchan por los sueños de estas niñas. Desde mi realidad, solo puedo asegurar que mis hijos coman hoy. Ojalá un día los sueños sean una opción para todos los niños. #SupervivenciaPrimero

Girls like Kholoud remind us that even in crisis, hope persists. What they need isn’t rescue, but opportunity and the right to pursue their dreams.

Kholoud’s story is such a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of young girls in crisis situations. Her determination to tell her community’s story despite the challenges is truly inspiring. We must continue to protect, support, and amplify voices like hers. 💛✨

UNICEF has confirmed this; that there is a correlation between children's mental health and various crises they encounter. The life of an adolescent girl is a true reflection of what kind of woman♀️she would be. Happy Adolescent, Happy Womanhood. Kholoud is a reflection of strength 💪. I am inspired. #GirlsAndCrisis #GirlsGoals WaterAid UNDP World Food Programme Rowan University
