Eleven-year-old Awatif and her family fled the ongoing conflict in Al Fasher, Sudan, seeking refuge in Tawila. Awatif longs to return home. “I want to go back to school and be with my friends like I used to. What a wonderful time we had. I miss those days so much,” she recalls. At a UNICEF-supported child-friendly space, she has found some way to feel hopeful and enjoy her favourite hobby of drawing. “They made this centre possible for us to forget about the negative impact of the war on us,” she says. Children in Sudan need peace so they can live their childhood.

Every child deserves a safe space to learn, grow, and dream, free from fear and conflict. Our hearts go out to Awatif and all the children in Sudan. May peace and education light their path again soon. 💙
Heartbreaking yet hopeful. Awatif’s story reminds us that even in conflict, a safe space can restore something war tries to take, a child’s sense of normalcy. Peace isn’t just the absence of violence; it’s the presence of possibility for every child.

💔 Awatif’s story reminds us how powerful hope and childhood truly are, even in the hardest moments. At Fundación EDUCA, we believe every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and grow in peace.
