Children in South Sudan are facing a severe food and nutrition crisis, driven by escalating conflict, access constraints, economic crisis, climatic shocks, and more. Displaced with his family by devastating floods, three-year-old Wictour was diagnosed with severe malnutrition and received life-saving treatment at a UNICEF-supported nutrition centre.

Hi UNICEF: How can I become a volunteer. I checked out the website & the process seems to be very complicated.

Every time we go into the field, we realize that need is not measured by numbers alone— but by faces… by eyes that wait… and voices that have no one to hear them. An elderly man hiding his pain behind a smile, a mother masking her fear to appear strong for her children, and a child whose dreams are not luxurious— just the simplest rights: a sip of water, a book, a chance. These are not stories we tell. They are the reality we live every single day. At AlLyth Foundation, we believe that humanitarian work does not begin with distributing aid, but with seeing the human before the need, and believing that even the smallest intervention can change an entire day… or an entire future. We stand with communities— listening, understanding, and striving to be the hand that never fails them, no matter the challenge. Because humanity is not a project… it is a commitment that never ends. #AlLyth #HumanitarianAid #Yemen #CommunitySupport #EmergencyResponse #Hope #Impact #Development

Thank you UNICEF for shining a light on what too many children around the world silently endure. The story of little Wictour reflects a painful truth — childhood should never be a battleground between conflict, climate shocks, and hunger. No child should have to struggle for the basic right to live, grow, and simply be a child. At Direct Impact Empowerment, we may be a tiny dot in the world of humanitarian work, but we deeply believe that every child, whether in South Sudan, Nigeria, or anywhere else, deserves dignity, safety, and a future. We applaud your life-saving intervention and we stand in solidarity with organisations working tirelessly to protect the world’s most vulnerable. One life at a time — this is how change begins. And to the young boy holding on to his grandfather’s necklace… he broke my heart in the most gentle way. Children often cling to the only thing that connects them to love, memory, and safety. He looked so innocent, so unaware of the chaos around him — just a child holding a tiny piece of comfort in a world he never asked to navigate. May he be protected. May he be seen. May he grow in a world kinder than the one he met today

My heart goes out to the children and families in South Sudan who are facing such a severe crisis. but I’m grateful that UNICEF is there to provide the life-saving care I truly admire the work you are doing to protect vulnerable children during such difficult times. Please keep me informed on how I can support these efforts. I am also very interested in opportunities to contribute more directly, especially in roles related to child support, education, or humanitarian response.

The continous atrocities being committed against these small sudanese children is unfathomable. Unicef is doing a great job by ensuring this children dont starve to death, get basic ammenities and lead a dignified life in general.

Climate change and food security are interrelated. The urgency to address them cannot be overemphasized as they continue to threaten our existence on the planet.
