UNICEF Tanzania’s Post

Access to clean water is a right #ForEveryChild. Together with TANZANIA RED CROSS SOCIETY and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, UNICEF has brought safe water to Katerela village in Biharamulo, once the epicentre of Marburg Virus Disease. The interventions included drilling a new borehole, installing a solar-powered pumping system, constructing a 50,000L storage tank, and extending water distribution points to a school and a healthcare facility. With these efforts, 3,734 community members, including school children, now have reliable access to clean and safe water, strengthening infection prevention and control measures against future public health outbreaks.
