If you've ever sat with me at a negotiation table (whether next to me or across from me), I would love to hear your take on my take in this week's podcast episode. In it, I posit that although pointing out problems and working on solutions is good for society, our culture sees disruption of status quo as bad. There act of pointing out a problem exists and insisting it be fixed is labeled as conflict and conflict is in turn labeled as bad. Thus, most people who face significant problems in their lives try to avoid conflict for fear of being seen as the problem and therefore their problems go unaddressed in order to avoid disrupting and drawing the ire of the people and systems who caused those underlying problems. I propose that we need to normalize and encourage problem solvers to embrace conflict. This episode of DRMT's Growth Rings podcast explores this issue and contributes to normalizing conflict as a natural part of the solution process.
Our Executive Director, David Carlson, spoke about the real-world impact of multimodal advocacy, the strategic use of litigation, and why conflict is essential—not optional—for meaningful change. Whether you're an advocate, ally, policymaker, or just curious about how change actually happens, this episode will challenge assumptions and offer fresh insights into the fight for disability rights and inclusive culture. https://lnkd.in/gQw3Xmph
