In Papua New Guinea, just 13% of children are registered. This significantly hinders their ability to access essential services and legal protections. But this is changing. Mt Hagen General Hospital has recently launched birth registration services and is now offering birth registrations to new borns and children on Mondays to Fridays from 8am-4pm. UNICEF in partnership PNG Civil & Identity Registry and support from Australian High Commission Papua New Guinea is providing Birth Registrations, roll out of Mobile registration kits and integration with health services. #BirthRegistration #ForEveryChild #PapuaNewGuinea

Working Together to Protect Every Child! At 3PC, we are supporting the Cambodian government in its efforts to implement national standards for child protection. Recently a joint training was delivered to local authorities. The 3PC Program in Cambodia, together with the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (DoSVY) in Banteay Meanchey, co-facilitated a Child Protection Coordination Meeting with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). This session strengthened collaboration, identified shared priorities, and enhanced the provision of coordinated support for children and families across the province. 30 participants from 12 departments and organizations joined — including Kaliyan Mith Poipet, Friends-International , Krousar Thmey Foundation, Damnok Toek Organization, the Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center (CWCC), Love Without Boundaries Foundation, Rescue Cambodia, IOM Cambodia, Samaritan's Purse, Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (DoSVY)-Banteay Meanchey, CWCC Poipet, and Krong-Poipet’s focal point. Highlights included a presentation by Mr. Tourn Rithy (DoSVY) on the Child Protection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and experience-sharing by Mr. Leng Dalie (OoSVY Poipet) and Mr. Try Bunhen (Krousar Thmey) on collaborative casework. We are grateful to UNICEF for their funding support for this training. Together, we continue to build stronger, more coordinated protection systems for every child. 💙 #FriendsInternational #3PCProgram #EveryChildMatters #ChildProtection #CollaborationForChange #Cambodia

Pakistan’s efforts to nurture care for young children reflect both promising progress and ongoing challenges that require urgent, #multisectoral actions. #Pakistan has made notable advancements in launching the National Multisectoral #ECDPolicyFramework, improving #birthregistration rates, and aligning with international conventions. However, rapid population growth, limited progress on key #health, #nutrition, and #childprotection indicators, inadequate enforcement of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes (the #Code), and persistent data gaps related to #responsivecaregiving at home, #parentalmentalhealth, #Lowbirtheight, and the quality of child day care environments—continue to threaten child development. To ensure every child in Pakistan not only survives but truly thrives, it is essential to maintain the gains while addressing persistent barriers through better #investment in policies, programs, and partnerships that strengthen #healthsystems, expand #nutritionservices, and enhance data collection and monitoring. Millions of girls still face harmful practices like child marriage, and FGM despite growing awareness and policy efforts. UNICEF (2024) reports that 1 in 3 girls in sub-Saharan Africa marry before 18, and over 280 million women and girls have undergone FGM in 31 high-prevalence countries. This week, I had the privilege of representing ChildFund Africa at a consultative workshop in Nairobi on supporting countries selected by the African Union to pilot action plans for implementing the continental accountability framework for ending harmful practices. We emphasized the need for policy enforcement, community collaboration, and survivor-centered support. #Ending harmful practices demands a multi-pronged approach including: awareness, policy, and partnerships at every level. #childmarriage #FGM #Childprotection

📽️ From data to impact: In Malawi 🇲🇼, early childhood development programs once struggled with years of low budget allocations. Through our initiative on open and accountable budgets, civil society organizations came together to track ECD funding, uncover gaps, and push for reform. Their sustained advocacy paid off — allocations rose from 800 million to over 1.5 billion Malawian kwacha in just two years. In this video Henry Machemba, National Coordinator, NGO Coalition On Child Rights Malawi shares how collaboration, accountability, and fiscal openness are giving every child in Malawi a stronger start. 💪🏽✨ This initiative is funded by the European Commission. #COAB #OpenBudgets #IBP

Putting Children at the Heart 🩶of Change: As Kenya continues to advance the Care Reform Agenda, one truth stands out — 💛 Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing family environment. The National Guidelines for Transitioning Child Care Systems in Kenya emphasize that: 🔹 Family and family-based care come first for all children. 🔹 Apply a human rights–based approach — do no harm. 🔹 The best interests, safety, and wellbeing of every child come first. 🔹 Transition is a journey, not an event — it needs time, planning, and collaboration. 🔹 Transform CCIs into family- and community-based service models, not just closures. 🔹 Align with national laws, policies, and strategies for collective action. 🔹 Ensure accountability and sustainability for lasting impact. This shift isn’t just reform — it’s about restoring dignity, belonging, and hope for every child. 🌍💛 #CareReform #ChildProtection #FamilyBasedCare #Kenya #Transition #ChildrenFirst #SocialImpact #CommunityDevelopment

UNICEF and GSMA just made a powerful step for child safety in the digital age, with their launch of the Africa Taskforce on Child Online Protection, unveiled at #MWC25 Kigali — a first-of-its-kind coalition to safeguard children’s rights, safety, and wellbeing in the digital world. As internet access expands across Africa — one of the fastest-growing digital regions on earth — so do both the opportunities and the risks. From cyberbullying to exploitation and misinformation, millions of young users are entering online spaces not yet designed with them in mind. The new Taskforce brings together governments, telecom leaders, law enforcement, civil society, and youth advocates to turn policy into protection — embedding safety, trust, and accountability into Africa’s digital transformation journey. The global movement toward resilient, rights-based, and regionally led digital safety systems is accelerating. Cirvia stands ready to collaborate, share infrastructure insights, and help make real-time protection a standard, not an afterthought - Because every child deserves a digital world built for safety by design. https://lnkd.in/dMp66KwD #DigitalSafety #ChildProtection #AI #Africa #GSMA #UNICEF #FamilyOS #Cirvia #TechForGood
