UNICEF Papua New Guinea’s Post

As term 4 begins today, let’s keep children learning. This may be the final term of school this year - and for many children, the final term of primary school - but their education journey should not end here. Right now, only 63% of students across Papua New Guinea complete primary education. In rural areas, that number falls to just 27%. Too many children are missing out on the chance to continue their education and unlock their full potential. Education equips children with the tools to make healthier choices, find better jobs, participate in decisions that shape their lives and communities, and build a more peaceful, sustainable and prosperous future for Papua New Guinea. As parents, teachers, and communities, we must encourage children to stay in school, finish the year strong, and continue onto the next grade. Every child has the right to learn, and every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Education is an investment not only in children’s futures, but in the future of the country - driving economic productivity, reducing poverty, strengthening social cohesion, ensuring sustainability, and supporting national progress. #BackToSchool
