𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀! ④⑤ learners from Teya-teyaneng successfully completed the Waste Mapping course on the YOMA platform and took action by participating in a community clean-up. This was part of the “YOMA Clean Up” initiatives inspired by World Clean Up Day. The #YOMA platform, a UNICEF initiative under Generation Unlimited (GenU), empowers young people to make a social and environmental impact while building skills for a “work-life ready” future. Through the YOMA Waste Mapping Challenge, youth learn to identify waste hotspots using digital tools, earn verifiable digital credentials, and organize clean-up activities in their communities. 𝗬𝗢𝗠𝗔’𝘀 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀: ✅ Connecting youth with opportunities to learn, earn, and make an impact. ✅ Training young people in digital skills to map waste and organize clean-up activities. ✅ Partnering with local organizations to mobilize youth to actively clean their communities. By combining learning with action, these young leaders not only contributed to a cleaner Teya-teyaneng but also earned recognition for their skills, helping them build a strong digital CV for the future. This is such an inspiring initiative 👏. At Habitat for Humanity Lesotho, we believe that empowering young people from the most vulnerable communities is key to building sustainable futures. We would be keen to explore how we can partner with UNICEF Lesotho on similar engagements, bringing together our housing, WASH, advocacy, and climate resilience programs with YOMA’s digital skills and youth mobilization platform. Together, we can create even greater opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and drive change in their communities.
