UNICEF EU’s Post

Grateful to Jozef Síkela for visiting UNICEF Pacific-supported sites in Vanuatu and engaging with the children and the communities we serve. In Vanuatu, the Climate Resilient Sheltering Schools (CRSS) Programme is making a real difference. With an investment of 1.39 billion vatus, we're working to ensure that education doesn’t stop when disasters strike. The programme will reach over 2,500 children, 900 teachers and staff, and more than 130,000 community members. This is thanks to strong support from the European Commission through the Global Gateway initiative to build climate-resilient schools in the Pacific. Together, we are equipping schools with solar power, inclusive WASH facilities, while also strengthening disaster preparedness, advancing climate literacy, and supporting policy reforms to embed resilience across the education system. Every child has the right to learn even in the face of a changing climate. Together, we can make that right a reality.
