UNICEF East Asia and Pacific’s Post

Too many children miss life-saving vaccines—not because they’re unavailable, but because medical management systems fail to track vaccination and follow up with patients. In Lao PDR, that’s changing. One year in—and Lao PDR’s Electronic Immunization Registration (EIR) system is already transforming how vaccines reach children. ✅ Over 152,000 children born in 2024 are already registered  ✅ 99% of health facilities are now using the system  ✅ Health workers now get real-time data to ensure no child is left behind This digital leap, led by the Ministry of Health with support from Japan - The Government of Japan, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF World Health Organization, is helping ensure no child is left behind. Thanks, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific for sharing the excellent Loas digital immunization use-case. Led by MoH Laos, we have worked with other Partners to change the narrative in Laos..….supporting them to move from paper-based documentation of immunization business processes to trusted digital platforms, thereby connecting every child, every dose, and every community in Laos PDR.
