Join us at a Workshop on Integrated Urban Energy on 9th September at 09:00-10:00 EDT Sign up: https://cutt.ly/QWO1ASE Cities use over two-thirds of the world’s #energy and play a unique role as planners and managers of infrastructure to integrate energy systems across #buildings, #transport, #heating/cooling, #industry, and #powergrids. This integration is crucial to deliver improved efficiency, circularity, and greater use of #renewables in #cities and thereby accelerate the transition to a clean, cost-effective, resilient, net-zero energy system by 2050. Cities and #municipalities, national #governments, companies, utilities, and other stakeholders working on urban issues are invited to sign up to a Coalition for supporting cities to deliver Integrated Urban Energy Systems being coordinated by UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in partnership with Global Covenant of Mayors, Mission Innovation, European Commission and the World Economic Forum with technical support from UNEP DTU partnership. This is being organized with UN Energy to also provide insights on the submission of Energy Compacts to the High Level Dialogue on Energy #HLDE2021. Policies and projects promoting #sustainabledevelopment, including the use of safeguards to avoid negative impacts, can increase stakeholder support and public acceptance, increase market value, and raise #climateaction ambition. The awareness of integrated solutions to climate change and sustainability challenges is growing due to the development of new #SDG assessment tools that can help identify how projects and policies can maximize benefits and avoid or mitigate negative impacts. Join us for a webinar offering policymakers and other stakeholders an introduction to existing and new SDG assessment tools at the project level in Asia. "Conflict in Somalia is to a large extent being fueled by the climate crisis and natural resource degradation. On the other hand, the conflict situation makes the country and communities more vulnerable to the effects of climate change resulting in recurrent humanitarian crises." Plagued by unrest and conflict, #ClimateChange is making everything worse. But #Yemen and #Somalia are using TNAs to see a way using #ClimateTech in meaningful #climateaction. This new issue brief is an output of the #Technology, Markets and Investment for Low #Carbon and #Climate Resilient Development (TEMARIN) project, focused on strengthening markets for climate technologies in #Kenya and #Uganda. Download brief: https://cutt.ly/kUKF7A7 In recent years there has been much discussion about 'digital transformation' in the agrifood system and its role in enabling climate resilient development. Given the lack of clear and compelling data to connect these two trends, this issue brief examines the gap between the rhetoric and reality regarding the current role and importance of digital solutions for #agricultural value chains in #Africa, including those that can be termed 'climate smart', with a focus on the role of the private-sector in the development and diffusion of these solutions. As such, this brief is focused on analyzing the market for digital #technologies, used specifically in the Kenyan agricultural sector, rather than exploring the impacts (on markets and production systems) of these technologies per se. It is based on a pilot study from Kenya carried out in 2021.
