Shein to open Paris store, faces French opposition

Shein, the Chinese online fast-fashion retailer, is preparing to open a physical space in one of the most coveted retail spots of Paris. But France is pushing to stem the company’s presence in the country.

No to cheap fashion in the heart of high fashion! I support the Parisiennes on this. Chinese go home!

Shein opening in Paris isn’t just fashion news. It’s a warning. The city that invented luxury is now renting it to speed. We used to chase beauty. Now we chase discounts. Paris once sold dreams stitched by hand. Shein sells desire stitched by algorithm. When style becomes this fast, it stops meaning anything. Maybe the real price of “cheap” is what it’s doing to us.
