This past weekend, Xceleader’s #VoteHBCU Program welcomed our ten student fellows representing ten HBCUs across Virginia, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Florida to provide our students with the resources they need to educate, mobilize and empower their campus community to vote. There were over 150 applicants from 40+ HBCUs who showed a passion in our Fellowship Program.
During the summit, our fellows went through comprehensive training on voter registration, how to identify and tackle disinformation, strategies for coalition building and how policy works. On day one of the summit, students had the opportunity to hear from HBCU alumni who shared about their careers in public service, communications and law. Thank you to our partners at HeadCount Org for making this summit possible.
Thank you to our speakers, Esosa Osa, Kia Sims and Corinne Ashley Williams for helping our fellows develop actionable strategies to spearhead the work they will do on their campuses this fall. And, special thank you to my dear friend Allegra Lawrence-Hardy and staff for opening its doors to us to host this impactful and informative two-day summit. There’s so much work ahead.
