I’m excited to share that I’m taking on a new opportunity leading the Databases, Analytics, and Machine Learning organization for AWS. I’m grateful for, and humbled by, the leadership of Raju Gulabani – my dear friend, mentor, and colleague – who together with his impressive team built these businesses from the ground up, and today are used by more than a million and a half customers! I’m looking forward to diving back into my roots with the Database and Analytics businesses and bringing them together with Machine Learning to help meet the needs of our customers. On to Day 1!
There are two things that stood out for me working in Swamis Org for Lex. 1) Leadership: All leaders without exception were amazing and had their heart beating for the customers first. Countless times when we heard: “We have to think of our customers first”. It was Vasi drive to make Lex better and listen to every voice from all teams, Ganesh deep dive and building bridges abilities bringing Data, Eng & Science closer together, Santosh ability to tie all loose ends together and Rama skill to lead with silent wisdom that helped us to shoot for the stars. 2) Empathy: It was during the BLM protests when Swami wrote a note to everyone finding the right tone in those challenging times asking us to take time and learn and reflect. I remember to this day Vinod comments in a meeting while we had deliveries he said to us: “Guys this is not important today. Please take the time and participate in the offered educational programs. Tomorrow is another day!” If Leadership and Empathy are at the right place in an org, than this will only translate to big achievements. Bringing Data & AI closer together is going to change the industry. This just shows the expectational visionary leadership that exists inside of AWS.
Congratulations!
