https://lnkd.in/g7tcjrW except teachers have no idea how to do this right; remember: online learning is not a replication of the classroom one size fits all it does not include a “teacher” lecturing to kids it doesn’t have tests it is not best delivered as one of 5 parallel courses it is not about teaching facts it is not about memorizing does enable learning by doing through simulated experiences demands that the students do things mean that the students must want to do achieve what the course asks them to do involve acquiring new skills and practicing those skills and help, advice, and feedback must be available on demand the “teacher” is a mentor rather than the source of all knowledge when a student needs help, the job of the teacher is to offer to help a student figure it out for themselves sometimes the teacher needs to just offer hope and encouragement #education #teaching #edtech #onlinelearning

Why is this so hard to grasp? While the whole world is complaining about being forced into online or hybrid learning, why can’t school administrators and teachers unions consider a new approach? If we could actually design online experiences with the delivery modality in mind, would that help in the engagement factor. The end result would be happier students with less ADD and ADHD, better prepared students for 21st century opportunities, and finally a set of curricular offerings where the student doesn’t ask, “why do I need to know this?”
