Every day there is an article in the news about "learning from home" and the difficulties of teaching a class on Zoom. The idea of "remote learning" seems plausible if you see education as something that happens in a classroom. Kids are having a hard time faking paying attention on Zoom. They found it easier in a classroom because no one was really looking at them and they could flirt with the girl sitting next to them or tease the dorkie kid. The subject the teacher was "teaching" could be memorized before the test so who cared? Now in the era of virtual learning you are being inspected while you are being bored to death. I have been working on "virtual learning" for over 30 years. Let me tell you the secret: Students should try to achieve goals they actually want to achieve. The teacher's job is be there to help as needed. O #education #school #teaching #teachers nline courses need to create a world that is fun and offers challenges. You can't (and shouldn't) try to replicate school on ZOOM.

I'm sorry that I haven't read your book yet, so maybe my point is addressed in your book and I'm happy to be corrected or hear a rebuttal. I completely agree with your point, but too this is a case of overdue educational reform, which teachers have little influence over, regardless of whether in classroom or a virtual environment.  Schools are increasingly geared towards the headline of grades, regardless of the country. All that matters as you say is the memorised subjects, with little to no focus on personal or vocational development.

For about twenty years now all of my Training / Training activities (Educational Projects, Conferences and Courses designed and written starting from some of my books and above all from direct experience in the field as a Professional) have been guided by two models: Adriano Olivetti ( there is no Transformation without Training) and Roger Schank (Virtual Learning or Experiential Teaching). In particular, the Industrial Visionary Adriano Olivetti had already understood at the beginning of the 20th century that Preparation, Culture, Training, Creative Intelligence made the Production Community stronger: that is, able to respond more quickly and effectively to any type of problem or solicitation. Which unfortunately continues to be a deficit in our society, especially today under the oppression of a devastating crisis, with an absolutely unprepared political class, without any Culture, Amoral and unable to manage such a situation. A heartfelt thanks to Prof. Schank and Good Health from Milan!!!

It is funny that I frequently quote professor Shanks work regarding dynamic memory when I am making an argument regarding deficits of the school system, since it was a very inspiring book. Yet I did not know that some of his work can also strenghten my ideas about online learning and its problems.
