Matt "T2" Ryan lays out the United States Air Force’s “main line of effort to overhaul its training and simulation technology is the Simulator Common Architecture Requirements Standards, better known as SCARS.” He says there “are three guiding, main lines of effort to reach the service’s grand vision:” * “developing, fielding and sustaining a common synthetic environment, called the Joint Simulation Environment” * “increase the capability and interoperability of the distributed training networks that will connect them all together” * “ensure sufficient concurrency, fidelity, connectivity and recapitalization of training systems” As we see great strides in Modeling, Simulation, and #Training, partnering and teaming events like Interservice / Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference provide a way to share and explore new concepts especially across government (to include our allies and partners), industry, and academy to work this complex domain to provide “Joint Simulation Environment” across United States Department of Defense.
US leverages all-domain COTS Innovation for Defense thanks to DIU, FCT and other private - public tools. Other NATO countries are on the SAME track. All national talent&innovation fostering defense capibilities. This kind of públic private cooperation is essential to survival into a tech-centric military rivalry.
With the help of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), the first phase of the DoD’s new Replicator Initiative is on track, officials say. The initiative, which aims to field autonomous systems at scale across multiple warfighting domains, is part of the Pentagon's strategy to counter China's rapid armed forces buildup.
DoD's R&D Focus Areas for Future Technologies The DoD is investing R&D funds into these key technology areas to enhance operational capabilities and readiness: 1. Crewed-Uncrewed Teaming: Combining human and AI strengths for combat power and dangerous tasks, saving lives. Essential for developing sixth-generation aircraft and future teams. 2. Excellent work #usarmy! 😀 I worked on the RTI https://lnkd.in/ekmWtF77 Currently, the US Air Force is using it to track real-time fighter planes and NASA using it to track satellites in real time. It’s no secret that training for the defense sector means some degree of preparation for life-and-death scenarios. Current training can bring personnel close to that, but there is a barrier at which real-world training inevitably arrives; there is only so much readiness that can be taught before it’s relied upon in live combat operations. At the same time, training has to remain safe and removed from true risk. After all, you can’t place your trainees in all the same dangers that they would face when confronted by the real thing. And why would you? Training is the backbone of military forces around the world. Without high-quality systems, military personnel risk being short of the skills, theory, and readiness they need to perform their roles. Synthetic Training Environments (STE) address many of the shortfalls in traditional military training by introducing a new level of realism, helping trainees better engage with their education and absorb the concepts therein.

Great article, as usual, by Doug Cameron in The Wall Street Journal on CCA program. The CCA and Replicator programs are critical for many reasons, but there are two that matter most: 1) These programs will save the lives of our servicemen and servicewomen. 2) These programs will save money. I believe we are in the first inning of the next generation of defense and critical technologies to protect freedom. When Shield AI and Anduril Industries are highlighted alongside big defense primes as key players in this program, change is afoot.
