Recently I had the opportunity to sit on an energy panel with the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. David Speirs and Federal Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Ted O'Brien MP. The audience had the opportunity to hear from Ted, and then ask him, the Leader and I, a number of questions. Topics covered included nuclear energy, the path to net zero and Federal Labor’s broken promise to reduce Australian's electricity bills by $275. #energy #netzero #nuclear

But which nuclear fission or fusion? Sign this petition and save your political party, a safer, cleaner, employment-positive, opportunity for Australia to lead in and give to SE Asia and create trade and resource developments more than just Uranium.  Make a sound decision, not a temporary decision that will cost taxpayers money and save those power stations, and coal miners jobs. Great international advance for Australia. Note:- It is not nuclear if it does not have fissile fuel and fusion does not she fissile fuel!

Talk about a costly distraction from climate action… CSIRO’s latest GenCost report reveals that a large-scale nuclear power plant in Australia would cost an eye-watering $8.5 billion – DOUBLE the cost of renewables! Plus, nuclear would take 15 years to deliver. We don’t have time to spare! Waiting around for expensive #nuclear power won’t cut climate pollution this decade and only props up climate-wrecking coal and gas. Renewables for the win! #auspol #climateaction

Our comments in todays AFR. EUAA take a technology neutral approach. If the coalition want a government funded nuclear future then its for them to convince the voting public. However, a plan that negatively impacts private investment in the new generation that we need over the coming 10-15 years is concerning. We need to be focussed on solving very real issues with energy market transformation that we are facing into today. We need to keep the lights on. We need to put downward pressure on prices. We need to reduce emissions intensity of energy production. Whatever the energy plan is it needs to both deal with today's very real issues (FYI, AEMO may start to constrain gas supply to large energy users and force GPG to burn diesel due to looming gas shortages and low VRE output) while fostering solutions for tomorrow. I'm not convinced the coalition plan does that at the moment, in fact I'm not sure anyone has a plan that does that.

It's about creating a separate energy policy platform from where they can attack high energy costs in the context of a cost of living election. Choose carefully which Nuclear you want as one will be expensive and a waste of money, and the other will take over. Choose early. https://lnkd.in/gPGDihNi You can not say nuclear now without announcing which nuclear science you are proposing that people should follow. Now, there are multiple types of radiation or waste; some do not produce radiation or waste as the early nuclear fission plants did or, in some cases, still do. If you like Nuclear power, Australia has to start declaring which Nuclear they are talking about. In Australia, some nuclear weapons are not governed by Australian laws, whereas others are. That makes it more complex, as well as politics and the Greens, Teals, and Liberals. Labor and the Nationals have no clue on what they are debating as their advisers do not know.
